While chlorine dioxide is available over the counter as water purification drops, there are other invaluable uses of chlorine dioxide around the house.
Home Food Sanitization
Keep your fresh and store-bought food safe for your family to eat, meats especially, followed by greens and other vegetables and fruit. Prepare a bowl or rinsing by filling with water. Then in a separate clean dry glass (a small glass, like a shot glass) mix 10 to 15 drops of Part 1 with 10 to 15 drops of Part 2, swirl and let activate for 30 seconds. Mix into to bowl of water.
Now, you have the ultimate food sanitizer in the world working for you and your family in the kitchen. Rinsing your food in chlorine dioxide or letting it soak for a few minutes will kill the harmful bacteria, viruses, mold, parasites, toxins, or other pathogens that may be hiding in your food. This ensures your food is safe to share with your family without putting them at risk.
These days, it is nearly impossible to know how contaminated your store-bought food might be, so be cautious, proactive, and diligent can improve the quality of your family’s healthy lives and will help to ensure an expanded lifespan.
No need to re-rinse with water. Doing so may add contaminants from your home’s water source. Food processors do not rinse after treating with chlorine dioxide because after killing all the bad stuff, chlorine dioxide dissolves into simple saline solution. The only residue from use is a mild sanitizing bioavailable salt (unlike granular salt).
Kitchen Sanitizing Spray
You can use chlorine dioxide spray to disinfect all the surfaces in your kitchen, just like the big boys (industrial food processing and prep) do.
Simply activate an equal number of drops (10 to 15) of Part 1 and Part 2, and add to a spray bottle of water. Use to spray kitchen flat surfaces, countertops, cutting boards, sinks, and sponges.
Fabric and Clothing Treatment
Chlorine dioxide can be used to treat clothes and fabrics that may be contaminated with mold or other potentially toxic substances.
Pretreat mildewed area by spraying with chlorine dioxide spray (same concentration as kitchen sanitizing spray) and scrub it into the area. Then run with a load of laundry as usual, only use chlorine dioxide to replace bleach in washing machine tub.
Chlorine Dioxide Bleach Replacement
To replace bleach with chlorine dioxide in the washing machine tub, activate 30 to 60 drops of Part 1 and Part 2 in a clean dry glass and add to laundry tub in place of bleach.
Chlorine dioxide does not break down fabrics, like bleach does. Chlorine bleach produces trihalomethanes that could put your family at health risk, leading to reproductive problems, cancer, and other diseases. Chlorine dioxide does not.
Bathroom Cleaning Agent
You can use chlorine dioxide as your bathroom cleaning agent, just like the hospitals and best hotels do. Simply activate 30 to 60 drops of Part 1 and part 2 and add to one cup of water.
Apply using a damp cloth or pour into a spray bottle to clean shower stalls, bathtubs, and floor tiles. Let the solution set for a few minutes to break down all the yuckiness, then wipe down, scrub, and rinse as necessary.
Add drops to warm water to clean plastic and rubber surfaces, like shower curtain and mats to remove and prevent mildew growth. A little heavier mix will whiten the grout between bathroom tiles.
Garage and Outdoors
A 90+-drops-per-cup ratio is excellent for porous cleaning of brick and concrete surfaces.
Brush on, let set, scrub and rinse to clean anything that is difficult to clean, such as cement or stone surfaces around the house, outside, or in the garden.
Chlorine Dioxide Solution CDS 3000 PPM
While the two-part chlorine dioxide kit is the most economical and longest-lasting formulation, chlorine dioxide is also available as a pre-made mixture in a single bottle. It is called Chlorine Dioxide Solution or CDS 3000, where the 3000 represents the 3,000 parts per million concentration. CDS 3000 PPM is made via distillation process that gives it a more refined presentation.
Users say that it is more convenient in that it does not require mixing or activating prior to use like the two-part configuration, and they also report that it tastes better due to being more refined. Instructions can be found on how to make your own CDS 3000 from the more economical two-part formulation at home. DIY instructions can be found in Paris Humble’s book, Healthy Alternative Chlorine Dioxide Uses Non-pharmacological Health Restoration, which was banned on Amazon but is still available from other independent distributors.
Note: According to Paris Humble in her Healthy Alternative Chlorine Dioxide Uses Non-pharmacological Health Restoration book, the CDS 3000 drops are an 8-to-1 measurement. That is to say that 8 drops of CDS 3000 are equivalent to one activated drop (one drop or Part 1 mixed with one drop from Part 2 and allowed to activate for 30 seconds) of the two-part kit.
Storing Chlorine Dioxide
The two-part system has the longest shelf life of 5 years or more, and does not require refrigeration after opening, though all chlorine dioxide solutions should be protected from sunlight, so the standard recommendation is to store in a cool, dark place, like a cupboard, backpack, or emergency kit.
CDS 3000 PPM Storage
The one-part chlorine dioxide solution CDS 3000 PPM requires refrigeration after opening. All containers should maintain airtight sealing when not in use.
